Effective and last updated:
Earny currently uses essential authentication and security technologies. The app does not initialise Google Analytics, load advertising pixels or embed Calendly. Optional tracking will require an updated notice and appropriate choices before it is enabled.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small values a site stores in your browser and can receive on later requests. Browser storage, including IndexedDB and local or session storage, can keep sign-in state without being a cookie. This policy covers these technologies on Earny’s website and classroom, alongside our Privacy policy.
What the current app uses
| Technology / provider | Purpose and data | Duration / control |
|---|---|---|
| __Host-earny-firebase · Earny | A secure, HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax cookie containing a signed Firebase ID token. Lets the server identify and authorise the current learner. | At most one hour, bounded by token expiry. Renewed during an active authenticated session. Removed by Earny sign-out. |
| Firebase Authentication browser persistence · Google | Stores the Firebase user and authentication state in browser-managed storage, normally IndexedDB with browser-specific fallbacks. This lets sign-in survive a page reload or browser restart. | Persists until sign-out, clearing site data or invalidation. Token expiry and renewal are managed by Firebase. Storage keys can vary by SDK and browser. |
| Sign-in flow and security storage · Google/Firebase or ChatGPT Sites | The chosen identity provider may use its own cookies or temporary storage during sign-in, account selection, redirects and fraud protection. The existing ChatGPT sign-in route is managed by the hosting platform. | Session or provider-defined duration. Sign out of the relevant provider and use its cookie controls for provider-domain storage. |
| Network and security technologies · hosting infrastructure | Request-routing and abuse-prevention technologies may be set by the hosting platform where needed to deliver and protect the site. These are not advertising tools added by Earny. | Managed by the hosting provider; exact names and lifetimes may vary with its security configuration. Clearing site cookies removes browser-held values. |
Learner notes, quiz attempts, badges, sales and profile preferences are saved to your account on the server, rather than solely in a browser cookie. Clearing cookies does not delete those records. Use Settings or the request process in the Privacy policy.
Analytics, marketing and embedded services
The current Earny app does not initialise Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics, add Meta/TikTok advertising pixels, or run a marketing-cookie consent tracker. A measurement identifier in Firebase configuration does not itself start analytics. Fonts and page artwork are served as site assets.
Calendly, Shopify and platform-logo links take you to external services; they are not embedded tracking widgets. Those services can set their own cookies after you visit or authenticate with them. Their own policies and controls apply there. We do not treat following a link or signing in as consent to unrelated marketing.
Your controls
- To end an Earny session, use Sign out in the classroom. On a shared device, also check whether you remain signed in to Google or ChatGPT.
- Use your browser’s site settings to inspect or remove cookies, IndexedDB and other site data. Deleting only the session cookie may leave Firebase persistence available to restore sign-in; signing out and clearing all Earny site data is more complete.
- Blocking essential sign-in storage may prevent login, session restoration or account linking. Public pages remain available without a learner account.
- To erase saved learner records or close the sign-in account, follow Privacy policy → Access, correction, deletion and complaints.
Changes and contact
If Earny introduces optional analytics or advertising technologies, we will update this policy and provide legally required consent controls before those technologies run. A browser preference does not replace a needed consent mechanism. This version has no optional-tracking preference panel because the app has no optional analytics or advertising tags to enable.
